Hands-on experiential learning in herbal product making and an organic food business. Community Internships are a three-month 10-15 hour a week commitment for people who do not live on site. Live in positions require additional hours to cover the cost of room and board, and hour requirement varies on the site chosen. There are very few live in positions, but we are working on getting more. There are also rental rooms available in the neighborhood we can connect you with.
A background in herbal medicine, permaculture, organic farming, or holistic healing is preferable but not required.
Internships at Eagletree Herbs is not a program in herbal medicine or clinical herbology. Our focus is on herbal product making. If you have physical limitations please consider the workshops instead, the internships are quite physically demanding. Interns may participate in any class or workshop we offer at no cost. We take 2-3 interns per term and have much more interest than we have slots for, please apply in advance, and only apply if you are able to fulfill the commitment. We also have several interns that moved on to apprenticeship or staff positions.
10-12 hours a week for entire term. Should be treated like a paying job. You are expected to be on time and give advance notice in case of illness or unable to make your shift. If you have a prior commitment or travel plans for more than a week during the term please include in your application. Interns will need to sign a comprehensive non-compete and confidentiality agreement, as well as a medical liability release form. We are a family run home-based business located in the Santa Clara area of Eugene, Oregon. It is on a bus route and is seven miles from downtown, please consider the distance, the price of gas, bus fare or a bike ride in the rain before making the commitment. Carpooling with other interns is encouraged; however you need to have your own transportation plan in case someone can’t make it.
Gardening, harvesting, wild crafting, making herbal products, weed and use the weeds, cleanup of work spaces, bottling, labeling, picking up orders or other errands, chop kale, track inventory, research, setting up and tearing down vending booth, bottling, labeling, retail sales during farmers markets and festivals, dressing up as a Kale Fairy (check out pictures below), take photos, garbling, marketing, turning compost, transplanting, packaging orders, going to the post office. Depending on what is going on you may also help with food dehydration, chickens, and bee hives. We also need folks into marketing, social media, web development, graphic design and the various aspects of running a business. There is often some flexibility in tasks if someone has a interest or affinity in one area. Please treat like a paying job, please do not be on your phone, and no show/no calls are unacceptable.

Herb Reports. Interns study one herb a week and do a presentation to the group about it, students are encouraged to take the time and do a good job with research, personal interaction and study of the plant, and sharing what they learn.
Apprenticeships Interns who successfully complete one term are eligible to continue learning as an apprentice, which has more responsibilities and time commitments, but also more learning opportunities, travel or educational stipends, and continue to work further.
Please be aware that you will be working with Daphne Singingtree, an elder who has some mobility limitations, and will be assisting her with physically demanding tasks, especially when doing events. If you attend any tribal events such as pow wows or ceremonies, you will be expected to respect tribal traditions.
